The singing policemen record new CD

Hereford Police Male Choir has marked its Diamond Jubilee by recording a new CD – 60 Years On The Beat. The choir's last two CDs, recorded after their rise to fame on the BBC TV show ‘Last Choir Standing’, were sell outs and fans of male voice choral singing will enjoy this new selection of 15 songs, chosen by musical director Alison Houlbrooke to celebrate six decades of music making.

It's an exciting mix of melodies from around the world, ranging from popular numbers ‘What A Wonderful World’ and ‘You'll Never Walk Alone’ to more thoughtful pieces including the United Nations peace song, ‘Can You Hear Me’ and ‘Hine e Hine’, a Maori lullaby. Said Ray Williams, choir chairman:

“The repertoire chosen by Alison Houlbrooke demonstrates just how diverse we are as a choir, and the quality of the music is a fitting tribute to Brian Williams MBE, our long–serving secretary, and all the other officers who founded the choir way back in 1957.”
The CD producer Keith Farrington said:
“What makes the Hereford Police Choir stand out from other choirs is their ability to perform the traditional repertoire whilst introducing more contemporary music, and often in its original language.”
