Brian Williams, secretary of Hereford Police Male Choir since it was founded in 1957, makes the weekly trip from his home near police headquarters in Worcester to Hereford for choir rehearsals - and rarely misses.

Over the years he has clocked up more than 150,000 miles to sing! So when Brian celebrated his 80th birthday in April 2011 his family and fellow choristers arranged for him to do the journey in style - by helicopter - accompanied by his wife Margaret.

It was a surprise treat, and when the helicopter landed back at police HQ the choir was there to sing "Happy Birthday" to Brian, who in 2010 was awarded the MBE for his outstanding service to male voice singing.
